Rx SHP File FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions related to the Rx SHP File.

What form of SHP file are accepted?

We will import what is known as a Geographical SHP file with normal Latitudeand Longitude coordinates. We will import both projected SHP files and non-projected SHP files (as long as they have projection information with them).

What are some of the rules that each SHP file must adhere to for successful importation?

The requirements are:

  • SHP files must contain a polygon (no points or lines)
  • Poly Z files are accepted
  • Minimum field size is 400m^2 or .0988 acres
  • Maximum field size is 20234300m^2 or 5,000 acres
  • Max number of combinations per SHP file is limited to 20 (this number can be changed at any time)
  • Only 1 attribute is required in the SHP file to get a rate, but any attribute must have a rate
  • SHP files must have a rate, the user will be required to choose a unit and product in the UI
  • For Tillage SHP files, no product is required
Do Rx SHP files have to cover the entire field?

Rx SHP files do not have to cover the entire field, but anything left out will not have a rate.

Will Rx SHP files that cover more than the existing field boundary be able to be imported?

Rx SHP files that extend past the existing boundary in AFS will be clipped to the current field boundary.

What happens if I upload a bad SHP file in a folder with other Rx SHP files?

The bad SHP file will be skipped during processing. It will not fail the entire group of SHP files that it was uploaded with.

Can multiple SHP files be uploaded at once?
Yes, a user can upload multiple SHP files in one zipped folder.
tip

We do not support 7zip.

Can you upload multiple types of Rx SHP files at once?

No, the Rx SHP file type must bee the same. You cannot have a planting Rx SHP file uploaded at the same time as a fertizlier Rx SHP file, for example.

Will I be able to import Rx SHP files if I do not have a boundary for them?

No, you will be required to have a boundary for Rx SHP files before you import them. If you attempt to import without a field boundary, the files will be read but not displayed. They will not show up in missing layers.

Are there any other rules we should be aware of regarding Rx SHP files?

You cannot upload two SHP files with the same attribute, even with different names, at the same time.

For example, you cannot have tow Rx fertizlier rec SHP files wiht SHP file 1 displaying the Rate column as Rate_r1 and SHP file 2 displaying the rate as R1_rate. These SHP files would need to be uploaded separately.
